The Chip - Don't try to change it

Some say the only thing people know about Hannover is "Scorpions". But what happened 1984? Some guys released a very interesting Promo-Sampler about the music scene in that city and around. Then, more was going on. It's filled with some kinky adverts, guitar laden tracks and a killing german funk tune by "THE CHIP". Let the inlay talk (click to enlarge):

I found this record on the flea-market in Hannover, and well, that was my only one i brought back home. Have all the Scorpions-Fans already digged out the funky treasuries in that city? I dunno...

A weekend with Hunee

That amateurish but charming handy-made picture above is showing some parts of the legendary Swabian Albs and the last hours with our friend Hunee from Berlin. It is always such a great pleasure to have him playing our bleepgeeks night(where he played a marvellous mix of great music, new and old) and hanging around, listening to records, talking about records, to ponder on essential aspects of live and eating good food all the time! Was big Fun all the way! Hunee, we miss you already! See you soonish!

Three Records to go for!!! # 10

Our heading "Three Records to go for!!!" is meant to highlight you some records, mostly newer ones, that turned out into the bleepgeeks music radar through utterly coincidences, well researched record hunts or any other fortunate circumstances. The stuff we introduce can be dance music, comedy, non-dance music, originals, reissues, bootlegs or limited pieces, we don't separate!
In some cases we just liked the Cover of that Record, sometimes we made a mispurchase and sometimes our mandibles came off because of the music which was carved into the rills!
We won't do any reviews, puffing these records up to holy grails or slam them into wax garbage!
It's just made for you to (hopefully) discover new music and new sleeves! We wish you a lot of fun while finding these records at your local record shop on the streets or in your world wide virtual reality through clicking on to your favourite record stop!

Vinyl, we love you lock, stock and barrell!

Rhythm Master - Rhythm Magic (1984)

The CBS associated Mosaic Records was a short-lived label in the mid-eighties for the output of well known producer Michael Zager, who went for the more electronic, popish, rapish and funk side of things on this outlet. Rhythm Magic is a funny track with some slight go-go feelings(at least for me), nice and friendly drums on a very dancefloor-friendly production. The other side has a Dub on it where not much is happening during the whole length, but it's keeping up the tension in a remarkable way. What is Michael Zager doing these days?

Future Thinking Episode 6 by Rare:groove

My good friend Marco (most of the time more familiar as the mighty Dj Rare:groove) from Ulms very own Deep Shot crew forwarded me the 6th episode of his Future Thinking mix series, which is offering a very interesting and enjoyable ride through his dubstep galaxies and deep electronic underwater worlds. Oh lord, what a nice mix it is! He brilliantly fills the gaps between experimental beat excursions and harmonic melodies using appropriate transitions with the right sense of creating a fluent dramaturgy. The Track selection is ace, capturing the current who is who of producers from dubstep to electronix, featuring the likes of June Miller, Burial and Lusine, just to name a few.
You can catch him doing the Step-up radio show in irregularly intervals and while playing his monthly resident nights called "Deep Shot" at club Schilli near the city center. Marco, well done mate!

Edgar Winter - Above And Beyond (Instrumental Mix) (1979)

Up and away to the blue Skies! Above and Beyond is a very classic tune from a very unusual source. Edgar Winter is the younger brother of the blues-rock guitarist Johnny Winter and not only due to this, most of his compositions were similar to the efforts of his older brother. But if you look more precisely to the release info, you will just notice a very familiar name in the disco game, no less than Tom Moulton. If nothing else, with his little help, Edgar turned his ideas into pure gold!

Sa. 18.09.2010 : bleepgeeks feat. dj Hunee (Retreat/Berlin) @ Cabaret eden

Well, having Hunee playing a bleepgeeks night is a really special thing for us! Bright eyes, winged hearts, liberated souls and tons of pleasant anticipation, all at once is going the circuit in our sweet and cosy bleepgeeks office!

Let's get to know Hunee a little better:

Hunee is a good eater. He comes from a grey and boring city, where heavy industrialization and green forests go hand in hand. In his teenage years, he used to colour this environment with rap and soul music.
Now being a Berlin resident for almost ten years – he eats bumpin’ disco for breakfast, heats up deep jackin’ music for lunch and slows it soulfully down for dinner. In the night he prefers to spend his time cookin a special meal on the turntables. He is a good swimmer too – when he’s out of the water, he makes records for labels like feel music, W.T. Records, Permanent Vacation, Internasjonal and Retreat.

Let's sweat for better living!

HO Happy Day!

Ok guys, i'm not that big frikkeloni, but this one's i'm a bit proud of. I've just build up this pc-system from actual components and assemblies with the aim to put my dusty Pulsar II-Recordingcard into it... and: it's working like in past... :) Incredible, this card was sleeping for more than 4 years in the box. It includes the very old 3.1. Scope fusion platform software which is now looking quite antique on the screen.
Will i come back to do music again like in the ol' days or will i still hang in the record-collectors-net? It's a mess... But it's a start. As it is in every case if when you have musical gadgets: You can have a studio like a Popstar, but if this makes you like an Popstar is the question. Or in other words: You can have cool synthesisers and stuff, but this doesn't mean you can make cool music.
